I am Maddylon Burris from Stillwater, OK, a member of the Chickasaw tribe. I study Agricultural Education at Oklahoma State University. I recently transferred from Redlands Community College. My passion for agriculture connects to my roots and tribal practices. At OSU, I aim to learn how to promote sustainable agriculture and educate others about its significance. My tribal background enriches my perspective, blending traditional knowledge with modern techniques. I look forward to positively contributing to the agricultural community and honoring my heritage.
I began my journey in jewelry making in 2022 when my mother and I enrolled in a silversmithing class in Oklahoma City. This experience ignited a passion for crafting unique pieces, particularly those featuring Native American turquoise combined with sterling silver. Each piece I create reflects not only my artistic vision but also the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship associated with these materials. Working with turquoise, known for its striking colors and historical significance, has allowed me to explore various techniques and designs. My focus remains on blending traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics, ensuring that every piece tells a story.
